Foot Switch not working.
This is usually fixed by disconnecting the footswitch from the computer and reconnecting it, or connect to a different USB port directly to your computer.

Never ever download and run the Foot Switch Configuration Tool on a computer that has any Olympus or OM System Transcription software on it, not even to test the pedals, doing so will stop the footswitch from working.

If you or your IT have downloaded this tool to your computer (check your Downloads folder for signs they may have recently downloaded the FTSW tool), then you will have to open the tool and set it back to Olympus mode by following all of these instructions.

The operating mode determines how the foot switch is recognized by the computer and the method in which the foot switch sends the pedal press and release events.

Olympus mode (default): The Olympus Mode (HID vendor class) sets the foot switch for use with the ODMS Cloud, Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS Transcription Module), DSS Player Pro Release 5 and other applications that have been developed using the Olympus SDK(s).

Keyboard mode: The Keyboard mode (HID keyboard class) enables hotkey combinations to be applied to each pedal, allowing the control of third party applications.  When a foot switch is connected and this tool is executed the footswitch will take on this keyboard mode.

To change the operating mode back to Olympus mode follow the steps below:

  1. The foot switch must be plugged into the PC and with the foot switch configuration tool open select the required mode, "Olympus mode" from the Operating mode drop down.
  2. Click “Apply to Foot Switch”, wait for setting update confirmation.
  3. Close the FTSW configuration tool
  4. Disconnect the foot switch from the computer and reconnect it.

Note: When the foot control is then reconnected to the computer it will be connected in the requested mode. Do not reopen the FTSW configuration tool to check the settings, as this will change the mode of the foot switch.

This tool is only intended for use with non OM System/Olympus software, on a computer that doesn't use any OM System/Olympus software.  e.g. drum machine software to make the pedals activate keyboard commands that would normally activate kick drums.
