Where it all began

Although The Office Specialists Ltd is a new company, formed in mid-2013 by Andrew Shields, it has many years of industry experience behind it.  Some might say it’s in the blood with Andrew’s father Ken Shields having been an owner of Canterbury Office Supplies for 40 years.  Andrew worked full time for Ken & Shona for nearly 20 years before spending 20 months with a national office products supplier.
Andrew saw the need to provide specialist dictation support to the “Professional” market and this was going to be best done independently, where the decisions and practicalities of selling and providing efficient after-sales support could be best managed.


Andrew understands that dictation is an essential part of many professional businesses and often issues arise that need a quick resolution.  Because of this Office Specialists hold stock of all professional dictation equipment and also has loan equipment to get you out of that tight spot.  Office Specialists are Olympus Authorised Professional Dealers and have also been appointed a dealer for the Olympus Dictation Smartphone App utilising the Olympus Dictation Delivery Service.  And with our investment in technology we are able to provide national after-sales support too.


Commercial furniture is an area of great interest to Andrew and he loves to be able to see a job through from scope to installation.  Whether you require a single chair or a complete suite of office furniture, something out of the box or custom-made we can find the right products for you.

With half a lifetime of office products behind him, Andrew’s expertise is not just limited to dictation and furniture.  A broad knowledge of all office equipment and office supplies has been gained over those years and along with that a strong relationship with many of New Zealand’s manufacturers and distributors have been developed.

We do not have the facility to provide online ordering through a "cart", but we are able to take your order via the "Enquiry" button, email or free-phone.  Also if you prefer, regular or casual visits can also be made to your place in Christchurch.
